I have a Bachelor’s Degree in English and English Education. I also have a Master’s in Education and Reading. I have taught in both public as well as private educational institutions including rehabilitation facilities and developed specialized language programs for specific reading improvement goals. I am also a published author and editor.

I have great passion for the English language because it is the language in which we think. The degree of your language comprehension will greatly influence the power of your thought life and increase the quality of your life in general! Over the past 20 years I have worked with many writers in a wide spectrum of texts, who have had a desire to share their creative vision with the world in print.   • I offer a comprehensive line edit that other  book editors charge for proofreading alone. This line-by-line editing includes proofreading and correction of punctuation and all mechanical errors.
  • I provide editorial feedback and will work with you to help you clearly define the objective of  all your manuscript content.
  • I use Word editing software that will allow you to see all of the comments, suggestions, explanations,  and corrections while maintaining your original manuscript text. This will give you the opportunity to learn from mistakes so that you can eliminate them in future work.
  • If necessary, we will discuss manuscript issues by phone.
  • The overall objective is to produce a manuscript that is professional in presentation and ready to be committed to book form.



My fee is 1.5 cent per software word count (Example: a 50,000 word manuscript fee would be $750.00:  50,000 x .015)  This fee is considerably lower than most editor services. Some editors will charge 1.5 cents per word just for simple proofreading alone (typos, misspellings, punctuation errors).


This is a difficult question to answer, as there are many factors that must be considered. How many words are there in the document? Are there many mechanical errors or areas that lack clarity? Are there many form errors? Has word choice been carefully considered? Rather than give a time frame for edit completion, let’s just say when your manuscript is in professional form and you are happy with the end result. Remember, my reputation as an editor goes out with every manuscript I edit, so I have a vested interest in your book being as fabulous as it can be.


The format of your manuscript addresses the size of the margins and the font type and point. I use Word editing software which enables me to work with the text in many ways, but more importantly, to provide comments, suggestions, and explanations in the right-hand margin. Minimum 1 inch margins, double-spaced, and Courier Font will allow for a maximum amount of space for edits. This can be changed to suit your publication after the editing process is complete.


The fact is, all professional writers use editors. The value of having another set of objective eyes on your manuscript cannot be overstated. Oftentimes a writer will know what he or she wants to say, but when committing it to print the words don’t come out quite the same as they were imagined. Reading back over the text, the writer will automatically insert the words that were in thought-form, onto the page, even though he or she actually omitted a word or two in the writing. The editor comes at your manuscript with a fresh and objective mind and will become your first audience. He or she will be able to give you invaluable guidance leading to the best final presentation.



STEP ONE: Contact me: joegee88@gmail.com. E-mail me a short description of your manuscript including page count – what your theme is and objective in writing it. Attach one page to the email, which will give me a closer look at your manuscript and help to determine a ball park time frame.

STEP TWO:  Submit your entire electronic file. The most common word processing software out there today is Microsoft Word, and this is the editing software I use. If need be, I can convert a PDF to Word, but I prefer to have you send your manuscript to me in Word, 12 Point Type, 1 inch margins all around, and Courier Type.  If you have a MAC, use Word for MAC. I have edited a number of manuscripts on a PC that were generated with Word for MAC with no problems.

Once I have your manuscript and determine the word count (revealed in the footer information of the word processor, I will determine the editing cost. I will E-mail you what the total is, and require half to begin and half at completion.  I will accept a personal check or payment by Paypal.

STEP THREE:  The editing process gets underway. If I have questions about your manuscript I will contact you. It will not be my intention to try to change your writing voice or style. However, there may be some instances in which your word choice, phraseology, or sentence structure will need to be changed for the sake of clarity and impact. The two most common problems that plague the writer of non-fiction are vagueness and lack of development. You must remain open to the possibility that you may have to rearrange some sentences, change paragraph order, or find more accurate words to define your terms. That is what I am here for.
